Flip flops that renew hope

Over the weekend Paul and I stopped in to spend one of that fantastic little coupons at Kohl's. Oh how our family loves Kohl's. Anyway as we were walking across the parking lot Paul's flip flop broke. Quickly hopping on one foot due to the incredibly hot asphalt he tried to fix it. And he did.....just for it to break again two seconds later. This happened over and over. I finally just told him to go home and get different shoes.  He said he would be fine. He is such a trooper and always puts himself last no matter what. I suggested we buy a pair of flip flops when we got inside. As much as I love Kohl's we usually buy our flops at Old Navy. We are a major flip flop family over here. :) You can't beat $2.50 a pair especially when there are 10 pairs of feet needing shoes. :)

When we finally made it inside what was the first thing we see? Yep, flip flops. 60% off too. Wooohooo. :) Paul quickly grabbed a pair and broke 'em  in right away after he paid for them.  He was so proud of his new flops at a fantastic price of $3.04. Awesome!  Now we were ready to resume our shopping trip. I still had my coupon to use. :)

As we walked down the aisle I could hear this quiet but mighty voice speak to me. Telling me that if he was able to provide shoes for Paul when he needed them wouldn't he do the same with a job?  I felt this amazing peace just fill my heart. I know everything is going to work out. I don't know how or when. I just know that it will.  That little pair of flip flops renewed my hope that has been really struggling. God is so incredibly good.

Over these last 7 months we have many ups and downs. Through it all we have drawn closer to each other and closer to God. God was trying to get our attention I believe. We were just trucking through life doing our own thing.  Being in the center of His will was important but it wasn't the most important thing to us.  How quickly things change when your world gets turned upside down. To be where we are as a family I wouldn't trade any of it now. I don't know what tomorrow holds but I know Who holds it. That's enough for me.
